In 1973, David Appleby and Peter Merrick chose Fleetwood as the ideal location to start AM Seafoods Ltd. They realised then that a central geographical location would be a key factor in sourcing daily supplies of fresh, top quality shellfish. At the end of 2003 David Appleby retired and Mark Merrick, a chartered accountant, joined the company as Financial Director. He joined his brother Scott,Production Director, who came to A.M.Seafoods in Jan.1997 after graduating in Business Studies Nowadays, king scallops, queen scallops, crab and whelks arrive overnight from locations as far away as Wick, The Isle of Man, Shoreham and Brixham and are delivered to the factory in temperature controlled vehicles, to ensure absolute freshness on arrival.
