In 1973, David Appleby and Peter Merrick chose Fleetwood as the ideal location to start AM
Seafood's Ltd. They realised then that a central geographical location would be a key factor in sourcing daily supplies of fresh, top quality shellfish.
Nowadays, king scallops, queen scallops and whelks arrive overnight from locations
as far away as Wick, Campbeltown, Shoreham and Brixham and are delivered to the factory in temperature controlled vehicles, to ensure absolute freshness on arrival.
The
company employs 100 people and it's main activity
is the processing of scallops
and whelks. The factory satisfies all EU standards. There is a full induction and ongoing training
programme for staff and a HACCP system in place which gives full traceability and guarantees the quality of the product through the production process.
It has been the service given to our suppliers and customers and the attention given to
our processing, that has enabled AM Seafood's to grow into one of the major shellfish processors in the UK. Re-investment in people, plant and product development
will ensure future
growth.
